Copyright Policy

Copyright Policy

Anyone making an original copy of a creative work, or portion thereof, is a user of that material. All users of creative works (e.g. scientific articles and other publications) are required by Title 17 of the 1976 U.S. Copyright Act to get permission from the rights holder to make copies of and/or to distribute copies of published material so that any royalties due will be paid to the rights holders.

In its continuing effort to strictly adhere to Federal Copyright Law and to protect the intellectual property rights of the rights holders, and to ensure that our clients are in compliance with the law, Research Solutions obtains permission to use the document by clearing every document requested by clients and pays any applicable copyright fees (royalties) either to the Copyright Clearance Center or to the rights holders directly. When applicable, these royalty payments are charged back to the client/requester at cost and are itemized on the billing invoice.

Research Solutions has no control over the amount of applicable copyright fees (royalties) for any document. The fees vary widely from one publication to another and are set primarily by the publishers/rights holders. Research Solutions does not charge for clearing documents and makes no profit on copyright fees. For more information on copyrights please refer to: www.copyright.com.
